Clinical Trial Information
A commitment to the highest ethical standards
Merck KGaA, its innovative pharmaceutical division, Merck Serono, and its worldwide affiliates are dedicated to developing innovative medicines that address unmet medical needs. We carry out clinical trials to evaluate, for each investigational drug and marketed product, whether it is safe and effective.

Our clinical trials follow the highest medical and ethical standards, in accordance with the principles laid down in the Declaration of Helsinki, and that are consistent with Good Clinical Practice and applicable regulations.

By making such clinical trial information available, we are:
  • Informing patients, investigators and healthcare professionals about the clinical research it conducts.
  • Promoting the distribution of knowledge and minimize the duplication of research effort.
  • Supporting the publication of full manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Contributing towards transparency and build mutual trust.

With respect to the principles set forth by the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA), the Declaration of Helsinki and applicable regulations, we are informing the public about the designs and results of our clinical trials in a timely and balanced manner, regardless of the outcome. We are committed to register Merck Serono sponsored clinical trials on the U.S. National Institutes of Health´s ClinicalTrials.gov website.  In addition, we are posting the designs and findings from Merck Serono sponsored clinical trials on further national trial registers as mandated by local requirements.

Merck KGaA, its global division Merck Serono, and its worldwide affiliates are not to be considered sponsors of Investigator Sponsored Trials or trials funded by Independent Medical Grants. The responsibility for registering these trial designs and results resides with the sponsor of the trial.
